Evolve Energy Accredited for Mandatory Air Con Inspections
Evolve Energy are now accredited to complete TM44 air conditioning inspections through Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), as required by the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
Any business or public sector organisation which either owns or controls the technical operation of an air conditioning system is responsible for obtaining the TM44 report.
TM44 air-conditioning inspections are required by the EPBD for all air conditioning units of 12Kw and higher. Systems are classified into 2 groups ‘Greater than 12Kw’ and ‘Greater than 250Kw’.
- Greater than 12Kw’ Systems are required by law to be assessed by 4th January 2011.
- ‘Greater than 250Kw’ systems are required by law to be assessed by 4th January 2009
Every certificate is required to be renewed within five years from the date of the last assessment.
Any organisation which takes control of a system that does not have the appropriate documentation has only three months from the day the control of the system changed, to have the assessment completed.
The assessment must be carried out by a CIBSE accredited air conditioning energy assessor as this accreditation ensures that the assessors are professional, competent and adequately insured for the work.
Local Authorities are responsible for enforcing the TM44 requirements and they have the authority to issue a recurring penalty charge notices for non – compliance. With both deadlines having now passed, the TM44 inspections need be organised to avoid fines.
