Evolve Energy Provides Energy Solution for Biogen Idec UK

Global biotechnology company Biogen Idec has adopted a scheme that has reduced annual carbon emissions by almost 23 per cent at its 55,000 sq ft site in Maidenhead.
Energy management business Evolve Energy worked closely with the company to design and install a system that has reduced the company’s carbon footprint by 76 tonnes and its total energy use by 18 per cent.
Evolve Energy now provides ongoing support through round-the-clock monitoring and regulation of the power supplied to Biogen Idec’s equipment as well as a 24 hour call-out service.
From Evolve’s Energy Operations Centre (EOC), a team of specialist engineers use data collected from smart meters to regularly assess energy consumption throughout Biogen Idec’s Maidenhead site, as it seeks new ways to reduce its emissions and operating costs further.
A remote connection to the EOC also allows Evolve to help Biogen Idec identify and pinpoint any faults in their equipment often without the need to pay for an engineer to be called to the building to diagnose the problem.
Neil Fright, managing director of Evolve Energy, said: “Through monitoring Biogen Idec’s office consumption, Evolve was able to map consumption and align technologies to this and improve maintenance practises to both meet Biogen Idec’s operational requirements and create a more efficient environment.”
